Grid Stabilizing Solutions are necessary in regions where the grid provides unstable power supply. Fluctuating voltage from the grid causes high generator runtimes on sites. In the past, isolation transformers were used to help correct this issue, however this method is outdated. More recently, Auto Voltage Regulators are utilized, however, this technology has not been well adapted nor have the manufacturers optimized these systems for mobile networks in the developing parts of the world.

Voltage Correction:

Most operators now are considering Line Conditioning devices with AVR technology to assure voltage fluctuations are rectified. With Line Conditioning, a customer can also be protected against damaging power surges. CCE offers our Stability Series, Line Conditioning system with AVR that provides a voltage range of 100V – 285V.

However, this is just one part of the total integrated system equation.

Phase Correction:

Phases from the grid (typically 3 phases in total) drop in and out frequently in these regions as well. A solid Auto Phase Balancing system is required to correct this. CCE offers an Auto Phase Selection module (APS) that allows the site to remain “on-grid” during the loss of 1 phase or even 2 phases, including neutral if earth is bonded to neutral. This equates to a greater degree of grid-harnessing, therefore, less generator runtime.

Going further, generator start/stop must also be controlled and an intelligent controller assures optimized results. CCE includes its GEM3 controller to assure intelligent management of the generator, line conditioner and APS.

CCE combines all of these technologies into 1 integrated power cabinet. It is called the Stability Series and it has been proven in over 1,500 installations. Typical results in regions with very poor grid reliability provides savings of over 90% and payback periods in less than 1 year.
